Abadan’s historical oil structures and facilities were marked by plaque and plate in order to be preserved as national heritage.
 Petroleum Museums and Documents Center website reported that as many as ninety oil installations and structures have been registered as national works, implying any changes or remedies in them are prohibited under the law and any violation of the law would be subject to punishment.
Furthermore, the law prohibits any kind of transfer, sale, seizure, or any changes in the structures so that they could be used for other purposes.
An old gas station, which has been changed into a petroleum museum, historical jetty of the city, the luxury houses, a technical-vocational school, Abadan oil refinery’s power plant, Brim houses, a water pump facility, the old oil tanks and Abadan oil refinery’s foundry are among those installations and structures that have been registered as historical works and cultural heritage.
