Sunday, July 15, 2018Three Old Vessels Joining Oil Industry Heritage

Three oil industry vessels including Heydar, Horiat and Rana vessels, located in Nakhilo Island on the shore of Persian Gulf, will be used as petroleum museum items after restoration.

The Petroleum Museums and Documents Center website reported that the three used vessels would be restored for displaying as part of oil industry heritage as well as museum items.

The vessels are in possession of the Iranian Offshore Oil Company (IOOC), but they have been out of service since five years ago due to being too old and outdated.

Heydar and Horiat vessels were two operational and multi-purpose floating vessels which were used for navigating between Bandar Abbas, Kharg and Siri Islands. Being made in Japan in 1982, they were used for carrying oil equipment.

The oldest vessel of this class, Rana, was built in 1966.

The vessels will be transferred to an island or near an oil platform for maintenance and will be used as a recreational and entertainment facility after doing further studies regarding their renovation cost and getting more information about their technical and historical background.
