Iranian minister of petroleum Bijan Namdar Zanganeh was shown the newly-established Museum of Abadan Gas Station during his visit to the southwestern city of Abadan on 6th February.

The museum would be part of a chain of petroleum museums to be launched across the country in the foreseeable future. It was inaugurated on January 19th in Abadan, where the first gas station in Iran was built in 1927.

The petroleum minister, accompanied by managing director of the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC) Abbas Kazemi, also visited Abadan jetties and Abadan oil refinery’s power plant No. 1.

After the visit, the minister of petroleum noted the followings in the museum’s guestbook:

“Establishing the Museum of Abadan Gas Station is the first step in the path of creating a chain of petroleum museums, especially in the oil-rich regions of the country. I would like to appreciate those whose efforts has established such a museum and I am looking forward to its expansion. Abadan city itself sounds like a museum that not only depicts the history of Iran’s oil industry but also is the symbol of Iran’s modern industry, which surely will attract many tourists to the area. “
