Iran’s oldest offshore oil platform, Bahregansar oil platform in the Persian Gulf, was the host of oil industry families during the new Iranian calendar year holidays, which began March 21 2018.

Petroleum Museums and Documents Center website reported that during the new year holidays several groups of oil industry families traveled to Bahregansar by boat to visit old and new sections of the platform.  

Visiting Bahregansar oil platform as a touristic destination was one of the rare programs which took place more than fifty years after founding the of the Iranian Offshore Oil Company (IOOC). The visit was unprecedented for the visitors with beautiful memories.

 During the visit, the travelers were briefed about various subjects relating to work and live on offshore oil platforms including production, exploitation, transfer, and exports of crude oil.   

According to Petroleum Museums website, more than seven hundred people visited Bahregansar oil platform. it takes two hours to reach the platform via sea and during the journey, an artistic group performs exciting programs to provide a pleasant environment for the guests.

In January 2018, director of petroleum museums, Dr. Akbar Nematollahi, visited Bahregansar oil platform in which a decision on launching sea tours with the aim of visiting Persian Gulf facilities, was finalized. This decision comes into force this year.

Bahregansar oil platform as the first Iran’s offshore oil platform was launched in the Persian Gulf waters in 1962. The first exploratory well of the platform, which was drilled in 1959, is slated to be reconstructed and protected.
