More than 1400 people visited the Museum of Abadan Gas Station during the Iranian new year holidays, which began March 21.

Petroleum Museums and Documents Center website reported that the museum was open during the holidays of the new year from 10 AM to 9 PM.

According to the website, the museum was open to the public as of March 22 for ten days.

In addition to Abadan residents, a great number of visitors traveled to Abadan from other cities of Iran to visit Gas Station Museum as the first petroleum museum in Iran. the museum was inaugurated in January 2017 and this is the second Iranian new year holidays that it hosts visitors from across the country.

In addition to Iranians, a number of tourists from Iraq, the United States of America and Canada visited the Gas Station Museum as well.

This year, the Museum of Abadan Gas Station tried to introduce its attractions to travelers by distributing brochures and hanging banners at travelers camps which had been set up for new year holidays.

Veteran oil industry employees and their families were among the visitors who refreshed their memories about the years they worked for the industry by looking at old displayed objects.

During last year holidays more than 1100 people visited the museum which has been set up on the venue of the oldest Iran’s gas station in Abadan. The gas station was built by British in 1927.

The museum of Abadan Gas Station has put in display different oil industry equipment in its open-air space including different kinds of old gasoline pumps, a vehicle filling its fuel tank, a small room for gas station attendants, a restored oil distribution branch, riveted oil products containers, oil tanker trucks, components of gasoline pumps, kerosene lamps and stoves, oil products distribution historical documents including newspapers, advertisements, kerosene, gasoline, gasoil coupons, notes, stamps and oil industry cultural products.
