The director of the Petroleum Industry Museums Project said 124 old buildings belonging to the Iranian oil industry had been registered in the National Heritage List of the Organization of Cultural Heritage of Iran.

Addressing a ceremony to launch Darvazeh Dowlat Gas Station Museum on June 22, Akbar Nematollahi said nearly 10,000 items from 24 industrial regions had been identified and collected for the purposes of the project and were being prepared for display in the related museums.

According to Nematollahi, the oil industry museums project of Iran initiated in 2013 with direct support from Iranian Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zangeneh and was now being focused as the largest cultural initiative of the Iranian oil industry.

He further said that Darvazeh Dowlat Gas Station was one of the very few gas stations left in the country that were built by the Anglo-Persian Oil Company in Iran.

The official added that efforts were being made to launch three more gas station museums in the country by the end of the current calendar year to March 20, 2020.

Darvazeh Dowlat or No. 6 Gas Station was the third filling station to be built in Tehran in 1938.
