According to the report of the public relations of the management of the museums and documents center of the oil industry, the assignment meeting of »Shahid Tondgooyian« house-museum was held Sunday (Tir 4/ June 25) at the management of the documents center and museums of the oil industry.
 
In this meeting, Hossein Shameli, Director of the Oil Industry Museums and Documents Center, Behrouz Qamarinejad, Deputy Director of Support for the Management of Human Resources Development of the National Iranian Oil Company, Fateme Tondgooyian, Shahid Tondgooyian's sister, Vahid reza Anārki, CEO of the Municipal Cultural Spaces Development Company and some managers of the Documents center and museums of the oil industry, National Iranian Oil Company and Tehran Municipality were present.
 
Mohammad Javad Tondgooyian was born on 22 Khordad 1329/ 12 June 1950 in Khaniābād neighborhood, Tehran. He was a student of petroleum engineering at Abadan Oil College and after going through ups and downs in his life, in Tir of 1359/July 1980 Ali Akbar Moinfar appointed him to manage the oil rich areas and until Mehr of 1359/ October 1980, he was at the helm of the country's largest oil and gas producer.
 
During the period of Prime Minister Mohammad Ali Rajaee, and the presidency, Abolhassan Bani Sadr, Tondgooyian was introduced to the parliament as the oil minister, and out of a total of 176 votes, he received a vote of confidence from the parliament with 155 votes in favor, 18 abstentions and 3 votes against, and was officially chosen as the oil minister.
 
A few days before the start of his activity as the Minister of Oil (Mehr 3, to Aban 9, 1359/ September 25, to October 31 1980), the Iran-Iraq war began, and the first action of Tondgooyian in the position of Oil Minister was to organize the employees of the Ministry of Oil and its subsidiaries to protect the oil facilities located in Khuzestan province. On the 9th of Aban 1359/ October 31st 1980, about a month into his ministry, Mohammad Javad Tondgooyian was heading south to visit the Abadan refinery, when he was captured by Iraqi army forces on the road from Mahshahr to Abadan along with his deputy and other companions.
 
Some prisoners narrate that he was alive long after the defeat of the siege of Abadan (Mehr 1360/ October 1981) and the liberation of Khorramshahr (Khordad 1361/ May 1982); there is no exact information about the condition of his captivity and the way he martyred in the POW camps. In Ayatollah Hāshemi Rafsanjani's memoirs of 1369/1990, it is stated: Mr. Beshārati said on the phone that the Iraqis were informed by the Red Cross that Mr. Tondgooyian died in 1368/ 1989.
 
After being identified on Azar 25, 1370/ December 16, 1991, his body circumambulated the holly shrines of Najaf, Karbala, and Kazemein, , and then on Azar 29/ September 20, was handed over to the Iranian delegation by the Red Cross and the Baathist delegation at the border of Manzarieh-Khosravi, , and buried at 72 tan piece in Behesht Zahra.
