According to the Management of the Oil Industry Documents Center and Museums, during a visit to the city’s oil museum, Seyed Amir Abaachi ,Director of the National Oil Products Distribution Company of Sabzevar Region, emphasized the necessity of explaining the history of the oil industry and its achievements to various sectors of population.
He mentioned education as one of the familiarization ways for the young generation to be acquainted with the history of oil industry and stated: “The role of education is irrefutable in different economic, scientific, cultural parts and ….
The Director of the National Oil Products Distribution Company of Sabzevar Region also attended a students’ workshop which was being held at the museum for a few minutes and answered some questions of the teenagers who were present at the workshop.
In this workshop, students learnt about the oil formation, drilling and extracting it as a valuable substance and they were familiarized with the industrial objects and supplies that are kept in museum.
Oil products distribution station in Sabzevar was purchased by the Anglo-Persian Oil Company in 1939 and it was operating to 1970, afterwards based on Act 490 of the Directors Board of the National Oil Products Distribution Company of Iran, it was decided that this non-operation company-owned station which was unused to be used as a permanent museum for the oil industry.
The reason for choosing Sabzevar to house the petroleum museum was its location as a center of oil products storage and distribution in northeastern of the country. This station turned into a museum in 1995 with the aim of displaying a corner of tireless efforts of the oil industry personnel and promoting a culture of fuel optimization.
