The historic Darvazeh Dowlat Gas Station Museum in Tehran has been named Iran’s Best Small Public Museum of the year 1403 (2024–2025), as announced during the 17th edition of the National Museum Awards.

This unique petroleum heritage site, managed by the Center for Petroleum Industry Archives and Museums, earned the top honor for its exemplary work in improving accessibility—particularly through thoughtful renovations and inclusive designs that ensure easier access for people with disabilities and war veterans.

The jury praised the museum’s efforts as a model for cultural equity and universal access in Iran’s museum sector, showcasing how even compact heritage sites can lead the way in combining historical preservation with social responsibility.
