Aghajari First Oil well

Aghajari was one of the first regions to be explored for crude oil in Iran following Masjed Soleyman. Drilling operations for oil and gas began as early as 1926 in Aghajari and the first discovery of oil in the region was in 1938 from Well No. 1 of Aghajari. By early 50s, 16 wells had been spudded in the field which contributed to almost half of the country’s oil output. The image above is Well No. 1 of Aghajari in the early years of its operation
