According to the Management of the Oil Industry Documents Center and Museums, Hosein Shameli, the director of this center attended 178th episode of Nardeban Program (the Documentary channel) on Friday (15th March) and explained the activities of this management.

About the most important activities of this Management, with this introduction that the Documents Center and Museums of the Oil Industry was established based on assignment (which was given to all executive agencies holding heritage sites and documents that they are themselves responsible for maintaining and publishing of their own documents and works) of the 4th to the 6th plans of development, he stated: “It has been almost ten years since the formation of this center and it includes eight museums and  permanent exhibitions, 114 nationally registered sites such as some parts of Abadan refinery, Masjed-Soleyman Well No.1 , Khoram-Kooshk Garden and ….”

Pointing out that this Management Center holds 11milion historical document sheets of paper on technical, international, operational, staff and … topics which are covered in four categories of ordinary, confidential, special and very special that will be available to the researchers accordingly, the Director of the Management of the Oil Industry Documents Center and Museums added: “The digitization of these documents has already begun and access to these records will be provided on the Internet platform in the near future.”                 

Shameli stated that despite the fact that the history of our country has been tied to the oil industry in various political, cultural, sports, international, etc. issues for the past 115 years, the people of our country are still not well acquainted with this industry and its services. He continued: “The best way to show the services and progress of the oil industry is the Documents Center, so that by examining the historical developments of this industry, its progress and services can be shown to people.”   

He emphasized: “The doors of the Management of the Oil Industry Documents Center and Museums are open to media, documentary makers, researchers, scholars and students in order to illustrate the progress of this industry in the last 115 years.         

The Director of the Management of the Oil Industry Documents Center and Museums mentioned seven active museums of the oil industry as Tehran Darvazeh-Dolat, Abadan Benzinkhaneh , Abadan Karamoozan, Sabzevar Distribution Industry, Masjed-Soleyman Well No.1, Kerman Oil Burners,  Mahmood-Abad Oil Industry Heritage Museum and added: “Industrialization of petroleum gave identity to some parts of the country such as Masjed-Soleyman and Abadan, the emergence and growth of these cities in Iran and the world owes to oil.”

Shameli stated that despite of 115 years of activity and service, the oil industry has performed poorly in matters related to cultural attachments and said: “Of course, this view and lack of attention to cultural issues is changing due to the emphasis of the high ranking official of the ministry and CEO of the National Iranian Oil Company.”
